Superintendent's Teaching and Learning in Safe Environments Advisory Committee


Guiding Principles

The Superintendent's Teaching and Learning in Safe Environments Advisory Committee will make thoughtful, intentional, and deliberate efforts to recommend the conditions for ESD schools to reopen safely. The Committee will use the following guiding principles as a foundation for their recommendations to the Superintendent:

Committee Charge

The Superintendent's Teaching and Learning in Safe Environments Advisory Committee will be responsible to meet the following charge:

Become fully informed on the Health and Safety guidance, changes, challenges, and consider strategies to maintain students and staff safe and healthy.
Become informed about the recommendations related to potential areas of school operations that will likely be impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in Santa Clara County.
Become informed of how the District will support health and safety, physical distancing, and instructional program impact.
Become familiar with potential areas of teaching and learning that will likely be impacted by how the District develops its instructional model and the daily schedule for on-campus instruction.
Become familiar with instructional models that will be utilized based on the site capacity impact related to physical distancing and safety measures.
Become familiar with the District’s work that aims to support the social and emotional well-being of our students and their community.
Provide feedback and recommendations on how the District can best meet the needs of students using the Guiding Principles and the District’s work to address these principles.

Superintendent’s Teaching and Learning in Safe Environments Advisory Committee Meetings

Time: 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Location: Zoom Teleconference
Dates: (Wednesday) June 24, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, August 5

Following its introductory meeting, beginning July 1, meetings will be open to the public. Each meeting will start with an open forum 30 minute time for the community to address the committee. Registration may be required. Check the Timeline for event details.


Community Information Meetings

The Superintendent will host stakeholder meetings to provide updates, answer questions, and listen to concerns community members may have. Additional meetings will be held as needed; The meeting dates are as follows:


Board of Trustees Meetings

Evergreen Superintendent Dr. Emy Flores will provide informational updates to the Board of Trustees regarding the work of the Superintendent’s Teaching and Learning in Safe Environments Advisory Committee and its subcommittees at its upcoming meetings:

June 24, 2019 (Special Board Meeting)
July 17, 2019 (Special Board Meeting)
August 8, 2019 (Regular Board Meeting)
