The following social distancing and safety guidelines are MANDATORY. Please adhere to them for the safety of each other and the staff.

Guidelines for returning an instrument and books.

  1. We ask that parents drive their child to the school campus and wait in their cars in the parking lot to limit the number of people on campus and keep everyone safe.
  2. Staff members wearing proper protective gear will greet students from a safe social distance. Staff members will direct students to stand in line on an "X" to remain a safe distance from others along the drop off/pick up area in front of the school.
  3. Students will follow the directions of the Chaboya staff members at all times.
  4. While maintaining social distancing (stand on the "X" marks on the ground) as you wait to approach the band room. Students will:
    1. Enter campus from the front parking lot.
    2. Walk towards the blacktop, on the sidewalk, going through the yellow poles.
    3. Follow the "X" on the ground and line-up outside of the band room (near the kitchen loading area).
    4. Drop off the instrument.
    5. Walk through the gym (following the "X" on the ground).
    6. Exit the gym.
    7. Exit through the green gates (between the staff lounge and gym) back to the parking lot.
  5. Students must immediately exit the campus and reconvene with their parents in the parking lot to return home. Students are not permitted to gather or walk around campus and should refrain from grouping with friends.

Prior to arrival, all students should take the following measures to speed up the return process:

  1. Empty the instrument case of all personal items, including: reeds, swabs, brushes, reed cases, personal mouthpieces, oils and lubricants, grease, and trash.
  2. All mouthpieces should be cleaned and sanitized by washing in warm soapy water at home.
  3. Ensure all marks are removed from method books, leaving the book clear of any markings.
  4. All sheet music stays with you! If you would like to donate your used binder and sheet protectors, clear all music from your binder before donating.
  5. The inside of cases should be sanitized with a disinfectant since they cannot be laundered!

We thank you for your compliance with these safety guidelines and procedures. Please feel free to email me at kellyhodgin@eesd.org with any questions that you may have. Stay healthy!

Best Regards,

Kelly Hodgin, Assistant Principal

Karen Kolber, Music Director
