Dear Parents/Guardians of 4th and 5th Grade Students,
The Evergreen community has strongly supported Measure H in the Evergreen Elementary School District. We are very pleased to offer 5th and 6th grade students the opportunity to participate in an Instrumental Music Education Program at each of the elementary school sites.
Because of the current COVID 19 health crisis, we want you to be assured that your child's and your family's safety, wellbeing and health are of the utmost importance to us as we plan for music in the coming year. Your child's music team will work very closely with EESD, SCCOE, your child's principals, and teachers. All safety protocols will be followed. With that knowledge, I hope you will feel at ease about allowing your children to sign up for band classes in 2020/2021.
Band is an optional year-long commitment that will begin the last week of September and conclude the second week of May. Following district recommendations classes will be held during the school day for approximately 45 minutes either online (when schools are shut down), in-class (when schools are open) or a hybrid of both models one time per week.
While students will receive music text, there will be a limited number of district instruments available for use for Evergreen Elementary students. In order to ensure that all students who wish to participate are able to do so, students are strongly encouraged to rent or purchase their own instrument at any of the fine music stores in the Evergreen area.
