And just like that we enter the last full month of school. It's hard to believe we have only six weeks left this year. Distance learning continues through May as we work to keep your child engaged and learning. The good news is that our participation last week increased with 96.1% of students participating. We are working to connect the handful of absent students. The bad news is that teachers have only reported an average of 40.4% of students fully participating. That means that more than half of students are missing meetings or assignments. Be sure to reach out to your child's teacher or have your child show you the work in Google Classroom (Bulldog Pathways) or Echo (Bulldog Tech). You can also contact to the admin team for support:
- Mr. Lara firstname.lastname@example.org (last names starting with A to M)
- Mrs. Frankina email@example.com (last names starting with N to Z)
- Mr. Hollenkamp firstname.lastname@example.org (Bulldog Tech)
It's Teacher Appreciation Week. While we can't quite celebrate the same as if we were at school, here are free and thoughtful ways to have your child show appreciation every day this week:
May 4 - May the 4th be with you. It's Star Wars Day - Let your teacher know how strong the force is with them. Fill teacher inboxes with thankful "out-of-this-world" messages.
May 5 - Cinco De Mayo and Taco Tuesday - "Taco" 'bout how they are "nacho" average teacher and share a video message telling them how much you appreciate them.
May 6 - #ThankATeacher Day Wear Red for Ed - Share pictures wearing red showing your support.
May 8 - Show Your Talent #LeyVaSpirit Day - Do a social media shout out with your teachers' talents or super powers.
I will send a reminder to your child's school email each day this week. If you are sharing messages, be sure to tag @leyvabulldogs on social media or email me email@example.com to get those messages on the LeyVa Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook pages.
I would also like to send a special appreciation to all of our other distance learning teachers....YOU! Through this challenging time, you have undoubtedly been forced to take on an 'at-home teacher" role. I truly appreciate all of our parent/guardian teachers out there. We would not keep LeyVa learning without you.
Below are a few other reminders. Reach out for anything. Have a great week.
