Well, we did it. We launched distance learning with week one in the books. It was certainly no easy task. Thank you to all you that helped your child establish a new routines, work through technical challenges, and make the most of this new learning experience.
This week we documented 80.02% of students participating, but only about 50% actively involved. That means that half of students are missing meetings or assignment deadlines. Please take a few minutes to review your child's online classroom with them: Echo (Bulldog Tech) and Google Classroom (Bulldog Pathways and all PE sections). You can see the assignments, deadlines, and scheduled virtual meeting times. You can also send the teacher an email with your questions. Going into our second week with the routines and technical problems worked out, we want to see more students fully engaged. However, this can't happen without you.
We did our first round of Bulldog Digital Bravos this week and recognized over 20 students who were nominated by parents for taking care of themselves, taking care of others, or taking care of business during distance learning. Keep those nominations coming. Recognize your child by completing this form.
This Friday marks our first leadership spirit competitions. It's Show Your Pet Day. Have your child send in a picture of them with the family pet or a stuffed animal. Entries due to Ms. Williams at firstname.lastname@example.org by 2:00 pm Friday to be eligible for the raffle and prizes.
We are looking forward to our second week of distance learning #LeyVaKeepsLearning. Reach out for anything.

The deadline for purchasing yearbooks has been lifted. You can buy one at any time. You can even buy them for past years, in some cases, by logging in to Treering.com (leyvayearbook.com). Note though, the later you buy one, the later you get it.
SCHOOL COUNSELING SUPPORT
Mrs. Walczak, our school counselor, has a Google Classroom. It's loaded with resources, activities, and supports. It also includes the Zoom link to her weekly Zoom at Noon: Lunch with the Counselor on Wednesdays. Please have your child add this Google Classroom (this is for both Bulldog Tech and Bulldog Pathways). Go to classroom.google.com and use the join code p4mskxs to be added.
CAMERAS ARE REQUIRED ON
Beginning Monday, all students will be REQUIRED to have cameras on to enter a Google Meet or Zoom meeting. As we take attendance, we need to verify the student is actually present. We also have found incredible benefit to discussions and classroom interactions when participants can see one another. Depending on the teachers' needs or procedures, the cameras may also be required to stay on for the duration of the meeting. If your child does not have a device with a working camera, please stop by LeyVa on Friday between 10-11 AM to check out a school Chromebook.
LUNCH TALK WEEKLY
Coffee Talk, our weekly parent meeting, is now Lunch Talk. On Friday between noon to 12:30, the admin and office team will be available for an optional drop in "Noon at Zoom" meeting. The Zoom link will be emailed on Friday morning. Come with your questions or just hear what's going on while connecting with other LeyVa parents.
