Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Laurelwood Elementary School – home of the Lions! Our school motto is “Dream. Believe. Achieve.” As a diverse community of learners, we strive to embody this simple, yet powerful message in everything we do. That means we give each other space to dream and imagine great possibilities; we have a positive, growth mindset; and we work hard to achieve our goals. This is a winning combination for success! Hopefully, you get a sense of our lion pride each time you enter the campus.

I’m honored and excited to be your new principal for the 2018-19 school year. Laurelwood prides itself in giving every child access to an excellent education, which not only includes challenging, standards-based curriculum, but also many enrichment opportunities. Additionally, we maintain a safe, nurturing environment for all students through strong character education and bully prevention programs and inclusive practices. Our dedicated teachers work diligently to fuel students’ love for learning. Our committed support staff cares for your child beyond the classroom walls. Our passionate PTA brings a wealth of experiences and opportunities to students and families within and beyond the school day. Collectively, we create a comprehensive educational experience that builds on the strengths and addresses the needs of each individual child.

An age old proverb states: “It takes a village to raise a child.” Our children greatly benefit from seeing their “village” actively participate in their success.
