Math Olympiad

We are excited to introduce you to the various parent-run Math programs at Quimby. The Math Olympiad, the AMC8, contest and the Mathcounts programs will continue at Quimby Oak.

If your child shows interest in Math, enjoys solving challenging problems, and likes to participate in contests, these programs will benefit him/her.

Quimby Art Collective

The Quimby Art Collective is a program that allows students at all artistic levels to explore different avenues of art. The main goal of this club is to help students build an appreciation for the visual arts and to provide a creative outlet for all students to enjoy. We hold our meetings at lunch every Wednesday. We are currently looking for a teacher to monitor this opportunity for students!

Chess Masters

Are you and your friends bored and looking for something fun to do at lunch? If so, you're in luck. Chess Masters is starting up. "What's Chess Masters?" you ask. It's a place for you to hang out, eat lunch, play chess or other board games, and relax. This year, it will be in Room 24 every Monday at Lunch. Bring your lunch and see you there! Buddy Leaders

Selected 8th grade students will help serve as ambassadors to the incoming 7th grade students to help navigate campus, help with time and work management, and facilitate the growth of peer relationships. Buddy leaders will attend their own workshops on topics such as peer pressure, positive communication, and common conflict. A student leaders, Buddy Leaders organized school events and Student Activities such as Red Ribbon Week, Holiday Grams, and the Talent Show. Buddy Leaders is scheduled to return for the 2021-2022 school year.

Tech Club

Are you interested in video games, coding, robotics, or website design? If so, we're inviting you to join us at Tech Club meetings. More information to come. Please email Mrs. Sutton for questions about the group.

X Club

Come Xplore Xtraordinary living! There's Xcellent free food, Xceptional bilbical truths, Xplosive fun, and Xtreme games! Students meet on Fridays in Room 7 from 2:00-3:15PM Contact Sheyna Heard at (408) 270-4854. This program is sponsored by the ROHI Church.

Jazz Ensemble

The Jazz Ensemble is for 7th and 8th grade students with at least one full year of music performance experience who are interested in performing music in the jazz, pop, rock, and world music styles. The group is open to all instruments, including those with drumset, guitar, piano, and acoustic or electric bass experience. Students must commit to attending two weekly rehearsals after-school on Tu/Th from 2:30-3:30pm from October through May. The group performs for both band concerts during the year and often has coaches come to work with the band. Students participating in the program year-round are eligible for scholarships for the San Jose Jazz Summer Jazz Camp at Valley Christian Conservatory for the Arts.

Totally Board

Totally Board! is a new lunchtime club dedicated to students who want to hang out with their friends and play board games. We will meet every Monday at lunch in Room 24. All Quimby Oak students are invited to join. The only thing you need to bring is a positive attitude. If you decide to eat in my classroom, please remember to clean your area, pack up your garbage, and leave my classroom clean.

As of right now, we have over ten different board games that have been purchased or donated to our club. I'm trying my best purchase more games for our club, so feel free to contact me at mfujimoto@eesd.org if you have any game suggestions.
