Common Core Standards & Testing

What are Common Core State Standards?

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. With American students fully prepared for the future, our communities will be best positioned to compete successfully in the global economy.

California Assessment of Student Progress and Performance (CaASPP)

It is anticipated that parents will receive their child’s individual report mid to late September. These reports will include detailed information about their child's performance on new, computer-based tests in English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics, which replaced the former paper-based exams. While classroom instruction at all grade levels has shifted, the new State accountability system is in the process of being developed and will take into consideration state assessments and other indicators of school success. Visit Evergreen School District's CaASPP page to learn more.
