School Meals

Healthy eating is an important life skill. The Child Nutrition Services (CNS) staff, consisting of approximately 45 employees, work diligently to provide students a variety of diverse and appealing foods. They know and understand that providing children with nutritious and well-balanced meals will help children grow, develop, and do well in school. The department is proud to build partnerships to support learning and to promote healthy habits for lifelong nutrition.

Child Nutrition Services’ goal is to provide students a fairly priced, well-balanced and satisfying meal meeting current state and federal nutrition guidelines. Additionally, the department strives to promote the health of students not only by providing them with nourishment but in educating them with the necessary skills needed to make healthy choices now and throughout life. Child Nutrition serves approximately 4,000 lunches daily with a menu emphasizing the United States Dietary Guidelines that include lowering dietary levels of fat, cholesterol, sodium and sugar.
